Shaheen Bagh protests, Seelampuri, Jamia violence ‘well-planned experiment in divisive politics’: PM Modi

Launching a scathing attack against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi and also the Congress party for letting important issues hang for political gains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described the ongoing anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh and violence in Seelampur and Jamia Millia Islamia area earlier as “well-planned experiment/design in divisive politics to harm harmony" on which voters have to take a call for a better future of Delhi and the country.

“Whether it is Seelampur, Jamia or Shaheen Bagh, protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act are not a coincidence but a well-planned experiment/design in divisive politics,” the Prime Minister said in his first political rally five days before Delhi polls on February 8.

 Playing on the front foot to corner rivals, Modi’s words indicated that the BJP was in no mood to go back on its election' strategy despite criticism against some of its leaders over their speeches and remarks.  According to Modi, the opposition to CAA should have ended after all the assurances given by his government but AAP and Congress were “provoking the people"

"Much is being disseminated about the Constitution while keeping the tricolor in front in the attempt to divert from the real conspiracy. People of Delhi are watching and know of this vote bank politics. This has to stop otherwise today it is this road (Shaheen Bagh) tomorrow it will be some other road," he said

"The Supreme Court and the high courts have always expressed their displeasure over violence and arson during the demonstrations but these people do not care about the courts....they do not listen to the court and talk about the Constitution. If the power of the conspirators increases then tomorrow another road, another street will be stopped. We cannot leave Delhi in this chaos. Only people of Delhi can do this to stop it, vote for the BJP,” he said

While recounting the various steps taken by his government, Modi also accused the Congress of letting important issues "hang, leaving the country entangled" for decades.

 “All the issues could have been resolved much earlier but when self-interest colours politics, the country’s interests take a back seat. There is a reason why we have to take such important steps one after the other,” he said, listing abrogation of Article 370, construction of Ram Temple and Kartarpur corridor, CAA, construction of National War Memorial and National Police Memorial,  'One Rank, One Pension' and punishment of culprits in the 1985 Sikh massacre among the government's various "decisions". 

 On AAP, Modi said: “Till the time these people (AAP) are there they will not allow progress to take place because they do not know anything except politics. The country got a Lokpal but the people of Delhi are still waiting for the Lokpal. Only when intentions are pure promises are kept".
